What happens when science, social studies, and journalism intersect?
Great learning experiences for students in understanding science in a social context—two complimentary and necessary lenses for understanding our world…
High school teachers of science, social studies, and journalism are invited to participate in a day-long seminar designed to provide teachers with lessons, tools, and resources to use with students for understanding both the science involved with current water issues as well as the social implications. 

CASIE is hosting WEE II on May 7, 2008. WEE II is designed for high school teachers of Science, Social Studies and Journalism. Teachers will be engaged in collaborative and cross disciplinary learning activities on local and international water issues to enhance their own instructional lessons. In additon to a resource packet, teachers will also learn about a variety of student competitions available for the upcoming school year. Registrations are due April 7, 2008. The event is being held at the DoubleTree Hotel, 1075 Holcomb Bridge Road, Roswell, Georgia, USA, 30076  (See directions below)

Lessons are based on selected Georgia Performance Standards from Environmental and Earth System Sciences as well as selected Social Studies Standards for Economics, U.S. History and World Geography.  Teachers are invited to bring wireless connection laptops to experience various activities throughout the day presented by various experts in the field and facilitators. Learn how to connect your classroom to the world.   Information on all types of student state, national and international competitions will be provided.  

May 7, 2008 : The event starts at 8:30 am and ends at 3:00 pm.  For a complete schedule, click here. Participant registration: $80 for the first attendee and $70 for additional attendees from the same school (registration fee includes lunch).

From 85-North:

From 85-South:
Travel 85-South to 285-West-- Take 285 West to GA Highway 400 North. Take GA-400 North to Exit 7B Roswell Exit. Turn onto Holcomb Bridge Rd. going West and the hotel is located .5 miles on the left at the second traffic light Dogwood Rd.
