A special feature of the Global Language Convention was presentations by featured schools from around the world with dual-language programmes of note. Downoald their presentations on the left.

These schools are as follows: 

In addition there will be presentations by students who have developed full dual-language proficiency through study in IB language programmes.  These will be drawn from IB Diploma schools in the Atlanta area.

Atlanta International School
Don’t Repeat – Compliment!
An overview of the dual-language programme at Atlanta International School, including a short history about the beginnings of the school and the challenges and successes of incorporating the IBPYP into an existing dual-language programme.

Benowa State High School
Benowa State High School’s French Immersion Programme
This presentation will feature Benowa State’s French Immersion programme where students learn French, Study of Society and the Environment, Mathematics and Science via the medium of the French language.

Chinese International School
Dual-Language - Collaborative Teaching Chinese and English Lessons Together

This presentation demonstrates how to plan, implement and reflect on lessons taught in Chinese and English.  At Chinese International School teachers collaborate in their planning and delivery so that the students can progress and achieve common outcomes in both languages.

A Trilingual Programme at Concordian International School
During this presentation, presenters and participants will discuss sociolinguistic factors , psychological issues, and other challenges that affect the implementation of a trilingual program.

Dillon Valley Elementary School
Where in el mundo is El Valle?
Closing the achievement gap in an economically segregated neighborhood by valuing language learners equally.
An overview of the details of the two-way dual immersion model at Dillon Valley Elementary School.  Topics include:  program design, schedules at various grade levels, staffing concerns, community outreach, second language acquisition for all students and professional learning opportunities.   Participants will see students attaining a high level of fluency in their second language through video clips and student work samples. 

Escuela Lomas Altas
Language Immersion and Dual Language Education
From Nursery to Grade 6:  An International Perspective in Latin America
This presentation will illustrate Esuela Lomas Altas’ language immersion program through a simulated journey of what Lomas Altas students experience as they go through the process of becoming dual-language experts.  Work samples, videos, photographs, texts and explanations of our teachers’ and school’s experience will be included.

Katoh Gukuen
Innovation without Borders:  The First English Immersion IB Authorized National School in Japan
This presentation describes the development of Katoh Gakuen’s English Immersion Program, the first English immersion school in Japan and the only Japanese school that is both accredited by the Japanese Ministry of Education and authorized by the International Baccalaureate for its Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. 

St. George’s College
Dual-Language Learning in a Team Teaching Context
This presentation will focus on a project being undertaken in the kindergarten and primary sections of St. George’s College in Argentina, which involves the provision of dual language learning through team-teaching (L1 and L2 teachers operating in tandem in the classroom). We will focus on the advantages of working in this way, the practicalities of implementing the system, and the potential pitfalls and how to avoid them.
