SCHEDULE - Session 4 Workshops

4.1 Learning the Language of Thinking
In this workshop, ideas behind Visible Thinking will be introduced. Participants will work through several thinking routines, discuss how these routines can be particularly powerful in language teaching, and consider where in the classroom these routines can be implemented.

4.2 The Road Less Traveled
An interactive presentation which will feature the dual-immersion programme at the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township, Indiana.  This workshop will review the history of the programme, the rationale, the research behind starting a new programme, as well as gaining the community support necessary to begin such programs.

4.3 A Blog of Their Own
During this workshop participants will receive information about blogging technology and its impact on language acquisition in the international school environment. This interactive workshop will culminate in having participants make their own blogs that have immediate transference into their classrooms.   This is an excellent workshop for administrators who are exploring options for low-cost, high reward sessions for in-house professional development.

4.4 Principles of Good Practice for Language Learning
This workshop will consider the necessary good practices that must be in place to ensure that students learn language, learn through language and learn about language.  A conceptual framework of language and learning for schools offering IB programmes will be presented.
