SCHEDULE - Session 5 Workshops

5.1 Importance of Vocabulary Development to Support Second Language Acquisition and Transdisciplinary Skills
This presentation will demonstrate the need for collaboration between the classroom teacher and the media specialist to promote vocabulary development in a dual-language program and include suggestions for classroom organization and activities to maintain and use vocabulary through reading and speaking.  It also will identify ways in which the media specialist, through library programming, can support the classroom teacher and encourage students to apply vocabulary through independent reading in their second language.

5.2 Pedagogy of a Language Immersion Programme in an Indian Context
This workshop brings forth the existing strategies and shortcomings in the implementation of foreign language teaching in the schools in India. It highlights region specific peculiarities, effects of cultural diversity and existence of several dialects in the country. The workshop presenter will offer measures to design a suitable Immersion Programme at school level to make language learning more need based and encourage learners to use it in their daily routine.
